Currently, Vietnam's textiles and garments are ranked third in the world in terms of production and export behind only China and Bangladesh. It was announced at the ASEAN Conference of Textile and Apparel Federation (AFTEX) which took place in Ho Chi Minh City on Dec -15, 2022. The conference was an opportunity for countries to share their experiences and links in developing the region's sustainable textile and garment supply chain. In 2022, despite difficulties, Vietnam's textiles and garments are expected to reach the destination with exports of about USD 44 billion, up 8.8% compared to the previous year.
Textile and Apparel Association of the countries signed the cooperation agreement
Mr. Vu Duc Giang, Chairman of AFTEX said that in 2022, from the interwoven opportunities and challenges across the globe, the community of textile and garment enterprises in AFTEX has combined, taking advantage of the opportunities and strengths of each country to develop the textile industry in the region. However, in the past time, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the sharing of information and mutual support is still limited. Therefore, the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association suggested that in the coming time, AFTEX should build a connection information channel, introduce the strengths of each country, and share with each other good models and good solutions. Concurrently build the program of chain bonding within AFTEX blocks of yarn, weaving, dyeing, sewing. Gradually promote textile and garment enterprises in AFTEX to implement sustainable development program, use renewable energy, save water, use solar energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions to green production.
Representatives of the textile and garment associations of countries in AFTEX share the status quo of the industry, the advantages and difficulties in production, the process of application of technology into production, the demand for importing raw materials. Handing over the position of President of AFTEX
During the conference, Mr. Vu Duc Giang handed back the position of President of AFTEX to Mr. Tan Kim Teck Albert, President of the Association of Textile, Footwear, and Tourism Furniture of Cambodia.
Dong Nai is currently one of the five provinces with the largest textile and garment export in the country.
