However, there are still businesses that are indifferent, not taking care enough to the health and safety of employees.

Lixil Vietnam Global Manufacturing Company Limited (Long Thanh District) is a typical enterprise that has just been awarded a Certificate Of Merit by the Provincial People's Committee for its outstanding achievements in OSH in 2021. This is an enterprise with 100% foreign invested capital with 1,500 employees. In the business strategy, the company's motto is economic development associated with environmental protection, health and life of employees. As a result, the staff at the company adheres to safe working procedures, creates a safe and friendly working environment and participates in the green, clean and beautiful movement at the enterprise.

Mr. Duong Dinh Than, Head of Administration and Human Resources Department of the company, said that the company always obeys and strictly adheres to the regulations on OSH in all areas: fire prevention, environmental protection, taking care of employees' health and improve the working environment. Currently, the company has established 2 medical rooms, equipped with first-aid tools in areas in the factory. Labor protection tools are ready for employees. The company focuses on health checkups, occupational diseases and organizes OSH supervision. Along with that, reducing dangerous equipment, increasing safety awareness for employees.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Quyet, in charge of OSH at Hossack Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Bien Hoa City) said that defining OSH work as protecting employees and assets of enterprises, the company has built a safety and hygiene network and improve the safe working environment for employees. The company's outstanding activity in ensuring OSH is actively improving working conditions for employees. Small, cost-effective improvements such as installing ventilation fans, vacuuming, reducing noise sources, periodically maintaining machines, etc. have contributed to creating a safe working environment and improving the health of employees.

“At the enterprise, each employee directly engaged in production is provided with labor protection including: protective clothing, shoes, ear plugs, masks, protective gloves, etc. Every year, the company organizes training sessions. OSH training helps employees know about the relevant skills and regulations. Besides, managing the inspection of equipment has strict requirements, ensuring the safety of workers"- Mr. Quyet shared.

Paying attention to the health protection for employees

Currently, many businesses have not focused on improving the working environment or implementing regulations on handling machinery, which is dangerous to employees. Therefore, working in a toxic and dangerous environment for a long time, employees are also exhausted, work ineffectively and as a result suffer from occupational accidents and diseases. Although businesses have compensation policies for employees, the legacy of their injuries makes them a burden to their families and society.

According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2021, the Department has coordinated with other departments to inspect and examine the implementation of the OSH law at 22 enterprises and 2 construction sites. Thereby, it has been discovered that many units and establishments have not fully implemented OSH regulations as prescribed, such as: have not had periodical health checks for employees, have not tested and declared the use of machines, equipment, and materials. Investment, chemicals with strict requirements on OSH, not equipped with labor protection for workers, etc. Thereby, the delegation sanctioned 13 enterprises violating OSH and asked the units to remedy soon to ensure safety for employees.

According to many trade union officials, the limitations in OSH work are due to the fact that employees are not trained in OSH and have not been taught with OSH knowledge to identify hazards in order to prevent occupational accidents and diseases. Many businesses have not paid attention to reminding employees to build a safe and cultural working environment. Therefore, occupational accidents and diseases often occur, affecting workers' health as well as labor productivity. Those are problems that need to be overcome in the near future in order to create a professional and safe working environment to create good products.
