Welcoming the delegation were Mr. Le Manh Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Members of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, and Mr. Le Nhu Linh, General Director of PetroVietnam Power Corporation - JSC (PV Power).
During the working session, Mr. Le Nhu Linh, General Director of PV Power, reported that over the Lunar New Year holiday of 2025, the project's staff, engineers, and workers continued to work tirelessly on-site. As a result, the project is now nearly 96% complete. Several key components of the plant have been tested and put into operation, including the 220kV distribution yard supplying power to the plant, the main and auxiliary transformers, the water treatment system, the compressed air system, and the wastewater treatment system.
On January 29, 2025 (the first day of Lunar New Year), Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant successfully completed a no-load operation test at 3,000 rpm and is ready for its first grid connection on February 5. Meanwhile, Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant is scheduled for its first firing in April 2025 and commercial operation by October 2025.
The General Director of PV Power expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, as well as departments, sectors, local authorities, and residents for their support and efforts in resolving challenges, enabling the project to achieve its progress milestones.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc emphasized that Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 Power Plants are the only projects among the 13 LNG-to-power projects outlined in Power Development Plan VIII currently under construction in Dong Nai Province. The projects have received close attention and direction from the Government, ministries, and provincial leaders. At present, major obstacles, particularly regarding planning, have been resolved. The province has directed the two districts of Long Thanh and Nhon Trach to expedite land recovery and clearance procedures to hand over the required land to the investor for the implementation of grid infrastructure projects linked to the power plants.
According to provincial leaders, the operation of these two projects will not only address regional and national energy security issues but also contribute thousands of billions of Vietnamese Dongs to the provincial budget annually. The province is committed to continuing its support for the businesses to maximize the projects' efficiency in the future.
The Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant Projects are located in Ong Keo Industrial Zone, Nhon Trach District. These are the first power plants in Vietnam to utilize liquefied natural gas (LNG) with a total capacity of 1,500–1,600 MW and a total investment of $1.4 billion. Once both plants are operational this year, they are projected to add approximately 9 billion kWh of electricity annually to the national grid, contributing to national energy security, achieving the Net Zero target, and fostering the development of gas-fired power projects in Vietnam as outlined in Power Development Plan VIII.
