Invest VND1.7 thousand billion for rural concentrated water supply works

Recently, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Phi and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc worked with departments, sectors and localities on the completion of the project on clean water supply in Dong Nai Province in the 2021- 2025. In the province, there are 83 concentrated water supply works in rural areas, but only about 13% of the population in rural areas can use water from the centralized water supply system, the rest is used through water purification equipment and small construction works of households. The goal of the project is that by 2025, more than 85% of the rural population will use clean water according to Technical Regulation 01 on clean water quality for domestic purposes and 25% of the rural population will use clean water from centralized water supply works. The total budget for the implementation of the project in the 2021-2025 period is nearly VND1.7 trillion, of which the budget is more than VND900 billion and the socialization capital is more than VND700 billion.

At the meeting, the local departments, agencies and branches all agreed to propose the province to have a policy to support preferential loans for businesses to implement the project; develop a capital support mechanism and procedures for localities to call for investment in new construction and expansion of clean water supply works, especially water supply works in remote and isolated communes.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Phi requested that the Department of Construction act as the contact agency and coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Finance to supplement the funding portion of the budget, businesses, localities and people in the project and complete in February 2022. At the same time, departments and localities provide information to the Department of Planning and Investment to complete mechanisms and policies on supporting preferential loans for businesses to implement on the main lines. In addition, clarify the content of socialization in the investment of clean water supply works for local implementation and as a basis for annual capital allocation, in order to soon put the clean water project into operation.
