The Central Interagency Steering Committee on Food Safety has just issued a plan on the implementation of the Action Month for Food Safety 2023 with the theme "Ensuring food security and safety in the new situation".

Accordingly, the Action Month for Food Safety takes place from April 15 to May 15 nationwide, focusing on the theme "Ensuring food security and safety in the new situation".
The objective of action month is to promote propaganda, education, awareness raising, responsibilities and actions of all levels of Party committees, Party organizations, cadres, party members and people in ensuring food security and safety; timely information on safe, high-quality food supply chains, violating establishments, potential risks of security and food safety.
During the Action Month for Food Safety, the authorities will strengthen the inspection, examination and supervision of the work of ensuring food security and safety; uphold the role of authorities at all levels, management agencies, social organizations and consumers' supervision for the compliance with the law on food safety for individuals and production, food business facilities.
The Central Interagency Steering Committee on Food Safety assigned the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Industry and Trade to coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to organize 6 interagency inspection teams to conduct inspection in 12 provinces and cities: Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, An Giang, Dong Thap, Ha Noi, Hai Duong, Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Can Tho, Hau Giang.
In addition to the 6 Central interagency delegations, the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Rural Development, Industry and Trade assigned functional units to inspect and conduct unscheduled inspections in provinces and cities in order to effectively implement the Action Month for food safety in 2023.
Publicize establishments and individuals that have been fined for administrative violations of food safety in order to warn, deter and prevent illegal acts of food producing, trading and advertising. In the process of inspection, combine well the propagation and education of knowledge and laws on food safety, raise awareness of the community in the work of ensuring food safety.
According to the assessment of the Central Interagency Steering Committee on food safety, the work of ensuring food safety has revealed many shortcomings and limitations in direction, inspection and supervision over the past time. Many production and business establishments have violated regulations on food safety.

In addition, the situation of cross-border food smuggling, false food advertising, abuse of plant protection drugs, veterinary drugs, growth stimulants have complicated developments; food safety in industrial parks and educational institutions have not been guaranteed … greatly affecting food security and safety.
