Double effects from research and technology transfer

Wednesday - 23/02/2022 09:14

In 2021, Dong Nai University has successfully completed the research project Building an automatic electric drive system with many active motors linked together by elastic elements, which is also applied in teaching. The project has been accepted by the Department of Science and Technology and transferred to the beneficiaries, which are Dong Nai University and Z751 Complex (under the General Department of Technology, Ministry of National Defense).

The successful implementation of this project also creates momentum for research projects specialized in engineering and automation of Dong Nai University in the coming time.

* Improve the operation quality of elastic conveyor

The issue of automation in technology and production has been drawn the special attention from the public and outstanding successes have been achieved, contributing to increasing labor productivity and product quality. Multi-motor automatic electric drive systems are basic components in most production lines, industrial robots, and mechanical processing equipment. The quality of control and monitoring of these systems will determine the accuracy and working quality of the entire line.

In 2020, through the selection process, the Department of Science and Technology (Science and Technology) assigned Dong Nai University to chair, and the Technical Academy (Ministry of National Defense) to coordinate in performing provincial science and technology tasks: Developing an automatic electric drive system with multiple active motors linked together by elastomeric elements.

The topic is chaired by MSc Dao Sy Luat (Dong Nai University), and Associate Professor-Dr Pham Tuan Thanh (Military Technical Academy) is co-chair. After 12 months of research, in December 2021, the project was accepted and handed over to the beneficiary.

This research project has improved the technical systems in the production line of many engines linked together by elastic elements. Thereby, reducing production costs, bringing higher economic efficiency.

Master Dao Sy Luat explained: “The novelty of this project is that we have designed and programmed it to maintain a stable speed of the conveyor (automatically running) even when the volume of products running on the conveyor is changed. As a result, it is possible to improve the working quality of automatic electric drive systems in practice.”

In fact, when using elastic conveyors, when the volume of products on the conveyor changes, the conveyor speed also changes. This will affect the engine, the production is not continuous, the time is not guaranteed, etc. Other lines, other production parts may be interrupted and affected accordingly.

In addition, the research team has also integrated it so that users can control and monitor remotely through the application installed on the smartphone.

* Platform to promote scientific research

During the implementation of the project, the research team performed simulation and experimental design. Accordingly, the experimental model is used at Dong Nai University. This will be the device used in teaching in the field of Engineering Technology - Electrical, Electronic (college system).

According to the development orientation of Dong Nai University, in the coming time, the school will continue to open new major training in the fields of engineering and automation. The above model can be used to teach in many modules, especially those in the training program for 3rd and final year students.

“We can use it to teach in many modules such as: PLC, inverter, electrical equipment, pneumatics, electrical installation, etc. In which, the most focus is on final year students. Especially orienting them in mastering science and creativity in a production line” - MSc Dao Sy Luat added.

It is known that in 2022, Dong Nai University will open a new major and start enrolling undergraduate students in Engineering Technology. This model will have many opportunities to use.

Dr. Le Anh Duc, Rector of Dong Nai University said: “This research project can be considered as the first step to lay the foundation for the next projects in the coming time. After implementing the project, our university has encouraged the lecturers to carry out a number of scientific research projects in the field of automatic technology and digital technology, proposed to the Department of Science and Technology and participated in the selection to implementation of science and technology projects and tasks at provincial level".

The research results of the project are the basis for building control and monitoring systems for multi-motor electric drive systems in industrial production lines. This can be a premise for lecturers and students of Dong Nai University to continue researching and developing new science and technology projects.
