The development advantages of Long Thanh are also "accomplished" when this is also the locality that "owns" Long Thanh International Airport (airport), the largest airport in the country under construction.

According to Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh, Long Thanh Airport along with its prime location in the southern region are the comparative advantages of Long Thanh District in deciding on models and development thinking. “The location of Long Thanh District is absolutely a place that nowhere can be compared and it is really the unique in the southern region. That is a comparative advantage," emphasized Party Central Committee member, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh.

With its potentials and advantages, over the years, Long Thanh has become an attractive address in the eyes of investors. Currently, Long Thanh is also one of the localities with the largest number of Industrial Zones in the province.

Although there have been great developments in recent years, it is estimated that the development potentials of Long Thanh District that have not been "discovered" are still many. Therefore, in the coming time, expectations for a breakthrough in the development of Long Thanh District are great. Especially, when one of the largest construction investment projects in the country: Long Thanh airport is being implemented. In particular, 2022 is considered a pivotal year for Long Thanh District to create "speedy" development for the locality.

The "super" project of Long Thanh airport phase 1 was officially started construction in early 2021. According to the implementation schedule, in 2022, one of the most important items of the project is the passenger terminal which will be commenced. This promises to create a great driving force for economic and social development for Long Thanh District.

Not only is the project directly "bringing" investment capital to the locality, Long Thanh airport will also create investment capital flows from connecting infrastructure projects. Since then, attracting private investment capital to Long Thanh to take advantage of the infrastructure system, especially the transport infrastructure in the area.

Secretary of Long Thanh District Party Committee Duong Minh Dung said that in 2022, Long Thanh will become a "great construction site". “Important items of the Long Thanh airport project as well as the connecting transport infrastructure projects have been implemented. Following that, the capital flow of investors will also flow in, so in 2022, Long Thanh District would become a great construction site"- Secretary of Long Thanh District Party Committee Duong Minh Dung emphasized.

Turning Long Thanh into a town by 2025

According to the approved planning of Long Thanh District area, in 2025, Long Thanh District will become a town. Five years later, Long Thanh will become a city. With a wide range of available potentials, the above goals for Long Thanh are completely feasible.

Chairman of Long Thanh District People's Committee Le Van Tiep said that in the coming time, with the orientations that have been and are underway, Long Thanh District has determined a development strategy associated with building a local image brand to attract the investment. The important goal is to focus resources on striving to build Long Thanh District into a town by 2025.

In the strategy of building image and brand to attract investment, Long Thanh District also focused on the Long Thanh airport project with the goal of building an airport city.

Professor Ha Hun Koo, Graduate School of Logistics, Inha University, Korea said that Long Thanh airport has a lot of potential to develop the airport city model and airport urban area. "Long Thanh airport built in Dong Nai province is one of the localities with the most developed industrial production in Vietnam with many Industrial Zones" - Professor Ha Hun Koo assessed.

In terms of location, it only takes about 40 minutes from Long Thanh Airport to Ho Chi Minh City, a large city in Vietnam. This is an extremely convenient point of Long Thanh airport. Therefore, if there is a good construction plan for the vicinity of Long Thanh airport, it will bring great economic efficiency. Another advantage of Long Thanh Airport is its proximity to the country's large deep-water seaport system, Cai Mep - Thi Vai. Besides, Dong Nai's seaport system is also quite good, so it will facilitate the economic development.

In order to "energize" Long Thanh to become an airport city, the Provincial Party Committee also agreed to assign the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee to soon prepare a resolution on urban development in the Long Thanh airport area at the request of the locality. The "creation" of a separate resolution for urban development in the Long Thanh airport area is expected to create mechanisms, resources as well as favorable conditions for Long Thanh District to develop in the coming time.
