According to the document 188/TB-VPCP of the Government Office announcing the conclusion of Mr. Le Van Thanh, Deputy Prime Minister at the meeting of the Government's Steering Committee for the implementation of Long Thanh International Airport Project, Mr. Le Van Thanh, Deputy Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Transport to coordinate with relevant units to study and expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, along with the routes under construction.
Along
with that is the implementation of investment in traffic routes connecting Long
Thanh Airport, including Provincial Road No. 773, Provincial Road No. 770B and railway lines connecting Long Thanh Airport under
the direction of the Government.
Previously, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) proposed to the authorities to soon implement the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway to ensure traffic connectivity between Long Thanh Airport and Ho Chi Minh City when the project is completed and put into operation.
According to ACV, when the phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport Project with a capacity of 25 million passengers per year put into operation, about 80% of the passengers going to and from Long Thanh Airport need to go to Ho Chi Minh City. Meanwhile, at present, the roads connecting Long Thanh Airport with Ho Chi Minh City are already overloaded.
