The series of infrastructure projects in progress will create a great driving force for socio-economic development in the coming time. Therefore, the transport network, especially traffic road system should be planned and come into construction synchronously to meet development demands.
Provincial Road 769, passing through Dau Giay Industrial Zone area, is proposed to be rerouted to ensure the technical design standards.
Further investment should be made for development
On December 9, 2016, at the 3rd session, the IX Provincial People's Council, Resolution No. 40/2016/NQ-HDND on road transport planning in Dong Nai Province in the period of 2020, with a vision to 2030, was approved.
The objective of Resolution No. 40 is building a suitable road transport infrastructure system in the province, connected to the regional and national traffic network. Strengthening the connections between modes of transport by railway, waterway, airway with an effective traffic capacity towards the smart and safe transport. Since then, diversifying types of transport and means of transport to meet the increasing demand for cargo and passenger transportation with high quality.
According to the Department of Transport, the road transport plan of Dong Nai province in the period of 2020, with a vision to 2030, approved in Resolution No. 40, the road system managed by the province consists of 45 routes in which there are 25 existing provincial roads, 13 newly built roads and 7 other important roads.
Mr. Nguyen Bon, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport, said that from 2017, according to the approved plan, the province has been investing in upgrading and expanding 7 existing roads, including provincial roads of 763, 765, 767, 768, 769B, 773 and 775. At the same time, some sections of 4 provincial roads were opened, including: 771B (section 1), 769D (sections 1,4,5), 778 (section 1) and 778B have also been built and put into operation.
For 7 important main axis routes as planned, at present, the Provincial People's Committee is also conducting investment study for 6 routes. Especially the Nhon Trach inter-port road, the road connecting to Phuoc An Port and the road linking District 2 of Ho Chi Minh City and Nhon Trach District are routes that the Provincial People's Committee currently focuses on construction. In particular, the route connecting to Phuoc An Port, phase 1 (section from road 319 to the intersection with Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway), Nhon Trach District has been completed the construction and the road is operational.
Although the road transport system has been invested and promoted effectively for promoting the socio-economic development in recent years, it has not yet met the demand for development. "The road transport network in the province by 2025 in general has not met the travel needs of people in the province and in the region," Mr. Nguyen Bon, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport added.
The road connecting to Phuoc An Port (phase 1) belongs to the 7 important main routes was built as planned.
Towards the goal “traffic system is prerequisite for development”
The construction project of Long Thanh International Airport, phase 1, has been started construction and is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2025. Furthermore, Dong Nai has been approved by the Prime Minister for adding 6.5 thousand hectares of land for industrial development.
According to Mr. Nguyen Bon, in order to promote the advantages from Long Thanh Airport as well as the newly opened Industrial Zones, the formation of traffic axes connecting to Long Thanh Airport as well as new Industrial Zones is very necessary. Because, this will create conditions to promote socio-economic development for localities in the province, especially the remote districts such as Dinh Quan, Thong Nhat, Xuan Loc, and Cam My. "It is necessary to study a plan to develop a number of new traffic routes and at the same time increase the scale of existing roads as a basis to meet the development of transport infrastructure of the whole province in the future," emphasized Mr. Nguyen Bon.
From the demands, the Department of Transport in recent years has developed a project to amend and supplement a number of articles of Resolution No. 40 on the planning of road transport in Dong Nai Province in the period of 2020 with an orientation towards 2030.
Vu Xuan Du, Head of Planning and Finance Division, Department of Transport, said that in the draft project, the Department of Transport proposed to adjust the investment phase for two provincial roads including: provincial road 764 will be built in the period 2021-2025 (previously the plan was approved for construction in the period 2026-2030), and provincial road 767 will be in construction in the period 2021-2025 for the 9.4-km section and the first invest in upgrading and completing the entire route to meet the standard of the planning scale in the period 2026-2030 (previously the plan was approved for construction in the period 2026-2030).
In addition, the Department of Transport also proposed local adjustment for 7 provincial roads including: 769, 772 (Districts of Trang Bom - Xuan Loc), 773 (Districts of Long Thanh - Cam My - Xuan Loc), 763B, 770B, 769G and 768C.
