Vietnam News Agency rejected the false information from China news about the East Sea

On July 18th, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) was authorized to reject the false information from China news about the East Sea in the meeting between Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and China Prime Minister Li Keqiang on July 14th, on the sideline of Asia – Europe Meeting held in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia).​


After the meeting, many China official news agencies including Xinhua News Agency, chinadaily.com.cn (English version of the China Daily News website) and the Chinese version of People Daily News, quoted some part of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s speech at the meeting: Vietnam respect China’s viewpoint on the East Sea arbitration proceedings” and ”Vietnam is ready to promote the bilateral negotiation on the maritime issue and respectfully manage all the differences from China in order to maintain peace around the region”.
In fact, the meeting with China Prime Minister about the East Sea issue, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recommended  both parties to seriously follow all the agreement and acknowledgement between the Prime Leaders  including “The agreement on the fundamental regulation of managing and handling Vietnam - China maritime issue” agreed by Prime Minister Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Hu Jintao in October 2011 in order to promote the maritime negotiation for better actual evolution; and at the same time well manage the maritime conflict, reduce the complication of the situation; efficiently and comprehensively  carry on the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and as soon possible achieve the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) to maintain stability and peace within the region . Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also stated Vietnam’s viewpoint on the decision on July 12, 2016 made by the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) at the arbitration between the Philippines and China about the East Sea issue in The Hague (Netherlands).
