Dong Nai province sets target GDP growth rate of 15 percent for 2007

Dong Nai’s GDP is estimated to rise by 14.3 per cent for 2006. The industry-construction sector registered a 17 per cent increase, the service sector, 16.5 per cent, agriculture, forestry and fishery, 4.1 per cent. Next year’s target aims for industry-construction to account for 57.4 per cent of the economic structure, service 30.2 per cent, agriculture, forestry and fishery 12.4 per cent. Next year, Dong Nai Province will make breakthrough for the development of the provincial economy. The Dong Nai provincial government also sets higher targets for development of healthcare sector and education and training and other sectors. Besides, Dong Nai will continue to accelerate administrative reform, creating a transparent and friendly investment environment to attract domestic and international investment.

The province sets economic target for 2007, striving forward to reach GDP growth rate of 15 percent. Accordingly, the province’s industrial production value will increase 19.5 percent, agriculture 5.5 percent, services 16.5 percent. Total social economic investment will reach about VND20,020 billion, of which VND 10,420 billion will be foreign investment and the rest will be domestic investment.

In 2007, Dong Nai province will mobilize human resources and give priority to implement major projects, further invest in infrastructure development and tourism services. Accordingly, the province will call for investment in the projects of Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay motorway, Dong Nai General Hospital, Hoa An Bridge, 25B Street, the road linking Ho Chi Minh City with Nhon Trach City and new urban area development projects. In addition, the province will also pay attention to complete the construction of infrastructure facilities at the industrial parks of Nhon Trach 2, Thanh Phu, Bau Xeo, Ong Keo … in order to further attract foreign investment.

In order to reach the targeted GDP growth of 15 percent in 2007, the province’s Trade and Services sector will have to make strong developments. Accordingly, the province will promote projects in the fields of finance, banking, insurance, telecommunications, transport, training, medical care, distribution, etc. Specially, there will be many supermarkets and commercial centers established in Dong Nai in 2007. Particularly, Sai gon Co.opMark is building its supermarket in Tan Tien Ward, Dong Nai Garment Company will build a textile and garment supermarket, Metro Cash and Carry Vietnam is planning to set up Metro supermarket in Bien Hoa city. Furthermore, some markets like Bien Hoa, Phuong Lam, Dai Phuoc and Long Khanh, etc  will be also upgraded or built to boost goods circulation in the province. Moreover, a plan to develop tourism projects in Dong Nai will be completed.

Despite having to face many difficulties and challenges, leaders of the province strongly believe that Dong Nai will reach GDP growth of 15 percent in 2007.
