Xuan Loc district makes good preparation for the election

That is the general statement made by Standing People’s Council after the working visit to Xuan Loc district to inspect the preparation for the election of nominees for 9th session National Assembly and People’s Council at all administrative levels for the period of 2011 – 2016.

 

People’s Council Vice Chairman Huynh Chi Thang, as President of Election Committee, is highlighting preparing stages for the election at Suoi Cao (Xuan Loc district)  

 

As reported by Xuan Loc’s Election Committee, after reaching provincial election proposal, standing district People’s Council founded the 2011-2016’s Election Committee including 15 officials led by Chairman of People’s Council as a Committee President. It also introduced sub-committees such as propaganda; complaint

and accusation arbitration; infrastructure and logistics. On a basis of 1st and 2nd consulting conference, held by Standing Fatherland Front Committee, the agreement has been entered into the mechanism, participant and quantity of members of People’s Council at district and communal levels. Accordingly, district People’s Committee has 56 nominees (with 40 nominees elected) at 8 electrion units: unit 1 (Xuan Hung, Xuan Hoa); unit 2 (Xuan Tam commune); unit 3 (Xuan Thanh, Xuan Truong); unit 4 (Xuan Hiep, Gia Ray town); unit 5 (Suoi Cao, Xuan Bac); unit 6 (Suoi Cat, lang Minh); unit 7 (Xuan Tho, Xuan Phu); unit 8 (Xuan Dinh, Bao Hoa). Meanwhile, the number of nominees into People’s Council at communes and towns of Xuan Loc district is 703 (495 nominees elected) allocating at 104 election units. In respect of provincial People’s Council’s nominees, district People’s Committee agreed on the proposed nominees for provincial People’s Council with 2 election units such as unit no.20 and no.21.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Ngon, Vice Chairman of provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, advised that communes allow nominees to gain trust from communal residents and, with 50% of agreements, they will be qualified. If they fail to get that percentage, they have to introduce other nominees. This was considered as the first consulting conference. Meanwhile, for those who will be elected into district and provincial People’s Councils and National Congress, if the advocacy from voters is less than 50%, Election Committee at that level will examine the reason why voters did not trust them to make corrections.

As shown in the statistics of the district’s election, there are totally 48,339 households with the population of 229,846 people (154,66 permanent residents and 3,199 temporary); 158,165 of whom are nominees (154,66 permanent residents and 3,199 temporary). Based on the statistics, the local authority proposed mechanism, and the quantity of members.

 

The district has given a wide variety of popularizing activities like designing banners, slogans, and panels hanged in every corner of the streets, and in public areas to create such an air for the election.

 

Together with the proposal of mechanism and the number of members in district and commune People’s Council, the dissemination also attracts special attentions from the district authority.  The district has organized a large range of activities disseminating the election such as designing and hanging banners, slogans, and panels at the lamp posts, street corners, hamlets, and public areas. Till now, district builds 7 panels covering an area of 165.2 m2; hanging 7 banners 82m long; hanging 20 Communist Party’s flags, national flags and 300 traditional flags of the election; provincial radio station performs 180 hours through its units at districts, communes and towns; mobile propaganda teams increase the propaganda time for the election such as election law, central, provincial and district guide documents, workforce, consultation and nominee introduction, etc.

Mr. Huynh Chi Thang, both Vice president of the Provincial People’s Council and President of the Provincial Election Committee, praised and highly appreciated the dissemination of the election of Xuan Loc district. He also stressed the utter importance of communication in contributing to the election’s success. He added Xuan Loc and others should focus on strengthening the dissemination, particularly during the peak of election days in order for the election to become the festival for all people.
