Laborers are searching for job opportunities at the 1st job transaction floor in 2009

In the first 6 months, the enterprises have demand of 26,000 employees according to figures registered to steering board of IZs and the provincial Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. It offers chances for those who lost their jobs or have been in risk of being sacked to find appropriate jobs in order stabilize their lives. A number of companies have great demand on labor with various preferential policies, such as Pousung Vina, Bau Xeo IZ, seeking for 1000 laborers with monthly wage of VND1,950.000 (US$111), doubling the rate regulated by the Government.

Ms. Le Thi My Phuong, director of the provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said: “Due to economic crisis impact, many enterprises have cut down their employees and downsized. The real demand is 26,000 laborers while number of those who lost or quit the jobs is some 10,000. It is obvious that there is an imbalance between supply and demand in labor market after Tet festival. There is a shortage of labor somewhere meanwhile it is redundant in others.”

In order to settle the problems, the provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has announced three channels of job offerings. First, the job transaction floor will steadily held on the 10th of each month. It offers a way for enterprises and laborers to meet and work together directly or online.

On the other side, the department will direct the districts’ offices of labor, vocational centers and relevant cadres to make recruitment information available on Mass Media so as to settle unemployment related issue and shift the agricultural labor force into service industry.

“It is the fact that our laborers are sometimes afraid of difficulty and don not try hard enogh as well as look for other highly paid companies whilst their limited job skills cannot meet the companies’ requirements,” Ms. Phuong stressed.

Therefore, employees’ awareness in job seeking should be better improved, at least in such recession. They should try to find the jobs fit for their working competency and professional skills and be conscious of sharing the enterprises’ challenges arising during such crisis.”
