According to the report of the provincial Traffic Safety Board, there were 988 traffic accidents in the past year, killing 323 people and injuring 1,287 others. Comparing with the last year, the number of traffic accidents decreased to 234, of deaths declined to 69, and of injuries dropped to 4. In 2010, apart from jamming incidents during peak hours, there were 14 traffic congestion incidents which occurred from 30 minutes and above, mainly at the locations on National Road No.51 and Tan Phong roundabout, etc. The provincial Traffic Safety Board joined hands with the press and local radio stations in the province to implement the traffic safety propaganda under the Decree No. 34/2010 ND-CP on traffic safety with 300,000 question-and-answer documents on the regulations of traffic safety. The provincial Traffic Safety Board also joined hands with the provincial People’s Committee, Department of Justice, public security sector, and Management Board of Industrial Zones to hold over 1,600 meeting for over 100,000 people responding to the campaign “The whole population participates in ensuring the traffic safety”, reducing the traffic accidents.
The provincial Traffic Safety Board put the route on National Road 1A into operation, installing 18 alarming light positions, managing the traffic situation; putting the separating band on National Road 1A into operation, joining hands with other units to handle the traffic violations and repair the road routes.
The provincial Traffic Safety Board registered more than 5,000 new autobikes (down 9% compared to 2009), 113,844 new motorbikes (up 12.9% compared to 2009); tested and inspected 51,500 turns of vehicles. In 2010, the provincial public security fined and handled more than 686 cases of land road traffic violations as well as over 4,000 cases of waterway traffic violations.

Addressing the conference, Chairman Vo Van Mot asked the provincial and local traffic safety boards to early complete the plan of ensuring traffic order and safety, enhancing the traffic safety propaganda task on the mass media in many locations; actively ensuring the traffic safety on the road routes, preventing traffic congestions which happened on main roads and the National Road; controlling and handling violations of traffic order and safety; urgently repairing damaged roads as planned; checking the tasks of training, testing and granting vehicle driving licences to avoid negative situations.
At the conference, Vice-Chairman Tran Van Vinh granted the emulation flag conferred by the Government to the provincial Traffic Safety Board. The National Traffic Safety Committee also handled certificates of merit to 2 collectives and one individual for their achievements in 2010. On this occasion, the provincial People's Committee awarded the emulation flags to 3 collectives for their excellent achievements, and handling certificates of merit to 26 collectives and 18 individuals. Moreover, 3 collectives and 2 individuals were given certificates of merit for their performance in the 2010 national film festival on traffic safety. 34 collectives and 49 individuals who gained good achievements in ensuring traffic safety were awarded the certificates of merit.
