According to report by the department, there are 47 enterprises committing environmental protection violations in the three stages, out of which 25 caused environmental pollution and the rest brought about serious environmental pollution. The settlements via administrative penalty of firms violating environmental protection and required solutions should have conformed to Decree No. 81 of Government. However, it will have been invalid by March 1, 2010 and replaced by Decree No. 177.

Accordingly, penalty could scale up eight to ten times higher than previous rates.

In addition to administrative penalties, the firms with serious violations could temporarily be suspended until they finish environmental treatment; or stopped their operation; forced to relocate their facilities far from residential areas; and the fact of their environmental protection violations would publicly be released on Mass Media.
