Rice is the first item to sell at the shop. Workers are allowed to post-paid rice until the tenth of each month, the payment will be deducted from their monthly wages. By this way, each worker can buy 10 to 15 kilos of rice per month on average. Mr. Dang Tuan Tu, chairman of the company’s Trade Union tells reporter: “The Trade Union is always attached to workers’ benefits. In the situation of raised price of most food and grain, and other necessities, especially, surprisingly raised price of rice within two months, a sale program for workers was proposed by the Trade Union. Under the permissions of company and board of directors, the Trade Union was financed to run the business. The rice, supplied by original producers without any agents, is the first items available to be sold at low price”.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, worker, says: “Rice is in here much cheaper than in the market. When the price of rice rose, I could buy a kind of Taiwan aromatic rice at price of VND 13,500 one kilos, compared to market price of the same kind at VND 15,000-17,000 one kilo. In estimation, rice is sold at VND 1,500 to 3,000 cheaper, depending on various kinds. It is important that workers can delay their payments for rice until wages are granted. We all appreciate the policy, which benefits ourselves”.
Another worker, Ms. Ha Thi Phuong Trang shares the same feeling: “I buy five to ten kilos of rice each month; for each kilo, I can save 1,000 to 2,000 VND, and it means each month I have several ten thousand left for other expenditures on rent, electricity, water and so on. That is the real benefit the Trade Union result in”.
