Consumer price index (CPI) rises by 0.19 percent

According to Dong Nai People’s Committee, the CPI in May, 2010 rose by 0.19 percent over April, 11.06 percent over May, 2009 and 4.35 percent over December, 2009. There occurred an increase in the CPI due to the growth of commerce and services over the same period.

    Particularly, retail sales over the past six months reached VND23.4555 trillion, accounting for 41 percent according to plan targets, up 26.3 percent over the same period.

    Among ten types of goods and services, six saw a higher increase in CPI than the average one as follows: cigarettes (up 0.91 percent); garment, hats and footwear (up 0.35 percent); housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials (up 1.55 percent); household appliances (up 0.21 percent); medicine and health care services (up 0.3 percent); culture, recreation and travel services (up 1.08 percent) and other goods and services (up 1.16 percent).
