(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On the morning of May 20th, Comrade Nguyen Hong Linh, Member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, welcomed a delegation from the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, led by Consul General Susan Burns, who visited and worked in Dong Nai province. Also in attendance were Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and leaders from various departments and agencies of the province.

During the meeting, Secretary Nguyen Hong Linh provided the delegation with updates on the province's economic and social situation. He highlighted the upcoming operation of the Long Thanh International Airport in 2026 and the strong connectivity of transportation networks that are attracting investors to Dong Nai. The province is actively cooperating with numerous foreign partners, including the United States, to enhance the quality of its workforce, transform its growth model, and attract investments.
Secretary Nguyen Hong Linh expressed the province's interest in fostering cooperation in various fields, including education and high-quality human resource training, research collaboration, technology transfer, investment attraction, as well as security and crime prevention. He hoped that through this meeting, the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City would continue to serve as a bridge, introducing American partners and localities to explore investment opportunities, promote further cooperation, and contribute to the implementation of Dong Nai's Net-Zero strategy in the future.

Dong Nai currently hosts 35 projects with a total investment capital exceeding $327 million from American enterprises. The investments are mainly concentrated in processing and manufacturing technologies, with notable companies such as Cargill Vietnam Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Cargill Group; Rohm & Haas Vietnam Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Dow Group; and Huntsman Vietnam Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Huntsman Group. Dong Nai province has also established cooperation agreements with three U.S. partners: the states of Arkansas, Virginia, and Oklahoma.

During the meeting, Consul General Susan Burns reviewed the notable achievements in economic development cooperation between Dong Nai and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in recent times. She also acknowledged Dong Nai's collaboration in implementing the dioxin remediation project at Bien Hoa Airbase, as well as the accomplishments in supporting persons with disabilities, controlling HIV/AIDS, and advancing high-quality education and training.
Consul General Susan Burns announced that in June 2024, the U.S. will launch a green project at Cat Tien National Park in Dong Nai, contributing to the development and conservation of the forest environment in the province, as well as promoting sustainable tourism. She expressed her expectation that Dong Nai would continue to cooperate with the U.S. in various fields.

Consul General Susan Burns expressed her gratitude to the provincial leadership for their time and support in facilitating American partners and investors in implementing cooperative projects, emphasizing that Dong Nai holds a strategic position in the Vietnam-U.S. relationship. Prior to the meeting, Consul General Susan Burns visited the Dong Nai Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention and discussed cooperation in the healthcare sector with the center's leadership, including a visit to the HIV clinic.
