(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On May 20, a delegation led by Susan Burns, the US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, visited and worked at the Dong Nai Center for Disease Control (CDC Dong Nai).

During the meeting, the delegation from the US Consulate General was briefed by Dr. Tran Minh Hoa, Director of Dong Nai CDC, on the activities of the CDC and the HIV/AIDS prevention and control efforts in Dong Nai province.
In recent times, HIV/AIDS prevention and control have always been a priority for the province. Effective measures have been taken, including propaganda campaigns, surveillance, case detection, management, connecting patients to ARV treatment, Methadone, PrEP, and harm reduction interventions. The targets of 95-95-95 have been achieved with over 90% success rate, and the number of new HIV infections and deaths has been declining. The life expectancy of people living with HIV has increased, and the quality of life for HIV patients has improved.
Dr. Tran Minh Hoa, Director of Dong Nai CDC, shared information on HIV/AIDS prevention and control efforts in the province.
To achieve these results, Dong Nai has received cooperation and support from various international organizations, particularly the support from the US government through the PEPFAR program. Dr. Tran Minh Hoa, Director of Dong Nai CDC, expressed his hope for continued collaboration and support from the US government to help Dong Nai province and Vietnam as a whole successfully achieve the goal of ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030.
Mrs. Susan Burns, the US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that Dong Nai is an industrial province attracting a large number of workers from other provinces and cities. This poses a significant challenge in managing and treating HIV patients. However, Dong Nai province has done an excellent job in HIV/AIDS prevention and control and is a shining example in providing HIV/AIDS services. Mrs. Susan Burns highly appreciated these achievements and affirmed that the US government will continue to collaborate and support Dong Nai in working towards the goal of ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030.
