(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On October 30, Member of the Party Central
Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh welcomed
and worked with the Vietnam Timber and Forest Products Association
(Viforest) on how to remove issues in production and business, including the
proposal to build a centralized industrial production area for the wood
industry in Xuan Loc. Attending the meeting were Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi
Hoang, leaders of departments and Xuan Loc district.
Provincial Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Hong Linh speaks at the meeting
At the session, Viforest representatives and Dong Nai Fine Arts and Handicraft Association (DOWA) have provided a generalized report of the production and trading situation of timber industry of the country as well as the locality in recent months, as well as challenges and problems encountered throughout the production process of the industry. Accordingly, despite many challenges, the industry's fiscal space remains large. However, up to now, the infrastructure system for wood production and processing is unsustainable. For example, in Dong Nai province, less than 30% of wood enterprises have factories located in the industrial park. The wood industry has also tried to attach Vietnam's image to a series of tours and trade promotions of countries and corporations in the world, but currently Vietnam has an inadequate organization scale because of the lack of large-scale concentrated production areas, as well as interdisciplinary production chain...
Based on the actual situation, Viforest, Dowa and wood associations of key provinces and cities across the country hope to receive support from the province and Xuan Loc district for the proposal to build an "Inter-regional wooden furniture production and exhibition center" with a scale of about 1 thousand hectares in Xuan Loc district.
The goal is to build a modern, environmental friendly production center, integrating research, production, display, trade exhibition, smart management, training, design innovation, and cross-border electronics commercial... At the same time, it will help creates conditions for gathering and specializing in large-scale wood production, forming production chains, promoting support industries to increase value for the industry, and increasing export revenue, as well as domestic consumption. The project will be jointly owned by the enterprise with shareholders from Viforest and local member associations.
Representative of Vietnam Timber and Forest Products Association at the meeting
At the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang and leaders of departments discuss contents related to this proposal such as: the province's policy of relocating factories and small wood workshops; comparison of the investor's proposed location advantages and other areas. At the same time, they also note that there are still no specific contents to environmental issues, production technology, different subdivisions of the project...., and requests businesses to pay more attention at those matters.
The Provincial Party Secretary affirms that Dong Nai is changing its development model, only attracting industries and production projects with high technology and high production value on a small area. Currently, the province is also restructuring the wood industry, so with the above proposal of the wood industry to specialize in production, it must also be transformed in a modern direction, creating new values to promote Dong Nai's development. The Provincial Party Secretary requests the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to research and give opinions on the necessity of implementing a centralized production area for the wood industry in Xuan Loc district or not, and if so, the scale, total area and specific location. The Provincial People's Committee and departments have to work closely with the wood industry on related contents, and report to the Provincial Party Standing Committee to decide on the next tasks.
