UNESCO honors southern “Đờn ca tài tử”

 In Ho Chi Minh City, night of February 11, Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a ceremony to receive by the United Nations Organization of Educational - Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) honored “Đờn ca tài tử” as Southern intangible cultural heritage representation of humanity.

At the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism, the province, the artist - and fellow artist, with all affection and responsibilities take close cooperation, development effective implementation of the National Action Program to protect and promote the value of arts of southern “đờn ca tài tử”- a unique kind of art-inspired folk is both scholarly, always be preserved and developed innovative, always have their rightful place in the cultural life spirit of the Southern people, of the people of Vietnam and of humanity.


On behalf of UNESCO, Katherine Muller Marin, UNESCO Representative Office in Hanoi, was awarded honors art of Southern “đờn ca tài tử” became the 8th intangible cultural heritage of Vietnam honored UNESCO represents the cultural heritage of mankind and protected at the international level. Representatives of the organization also presented by representatives of 21 provinces and cities nationwide, including Dong Nai for having contributed to the development works of “đờn ca tài tử” activities in recent years.


Also at the ceremony, the participants enjoy the distinctive repertoire “đờn ca tài tử” from the Southern province (including Dong Nai).


Same day February 11, cultural exchange night of “đờn ca tài tư” celebrate the Southern “đờn ca tài tử” recognized by UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage of humanity took place at Tran Bien Assembly Hall. On this occasion, the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism has awarded certificates of Southern “đờn ca tài tử” Dong Nai province is included in the list of intangible cultural heritage nation.


Province People’s Committee has a certificate of merit for club “đờn ca tài tử” of Long Thanh, Vinh Cuu District, Thong Nhat district and Club Chairman “đờn ca tài tử” Long Thanh, Nguyen Thi Phung (Linh Phung stage name); Club Chairman “đờn ca tài tử” Vinh Cuu, Le Van Co (Bay Co stage name); Chairman of the club “đờn ca tài tử” Dong Nai, Pham Lo has many outstanding achievements in the preservation and promotion art of Đờn ca tài tử” Southern province.
