The leather footwear industry is very labor intensive

​(News Portal – Dong Nai) According to Dong Nai Industrial Park Management Board, the total number of employees working in industrial parks is more than 589,3 thousand people (more than 582,2 thousand Vietnamese workers and more than 7,000 foreign workers). Laborers with intermediate or higher skills is 20%, trained workers (including training enterprises) is 40%, and untrained workers is 40%.

​In terms of industry structure, textiles, garments and footwear are the industries that employ the most workers (57%); followed by industries such as mechanical engineering (12%); wood processing (7%); plastics and chemicals (7%); electricity and electronics (6%). Regarding the scale of labor structure, workers from outside the province account for the majority (51%). Regarding gender structure, female workers have a higher rate (59%). Workers concentrate on working at enterprises with FDI capital account for 92%.

The average salary of production workers in industrial parks is 6.5 million VND/month; average income is about 10.5 million VND. For the office sector, the average salary is 16 million VND/month, average income is 19.5 million VND. Of the total income of employees, the main salary accounts for 75%, the rest is overtime income, allowances, and bonuses. ​
