(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On the afternoon of November 6, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Vo Tan Duc, chaired a meeting with relevant departments and agencies to hear the Dong Nai Technology University report on its proposal for educational infrastructure investment.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Vo Tan Duc, chaired the meeting.

Chairman Vo Tan Duc emphasized that the General Plan for Dong Nai for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister, identifies the province as a future education and training hub for the Southeastern region.

The province has designated education and training urban areas across three districts: Nhon Trach District (320 hectares), Long Khanh City (300 hectares), and Long Thanh District (201 hectares).

The provincial leadership hopes that the Dong Nai Technology University will assess its training needs, financial capacity, and research potential to select a suitable location for the development of the institution's infrastructure, ensuring it meets future training demands.

Chairman Vo Tan Duc assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to lead and collaborate with the Department of Education and Training to provide guidance and create the most favorable conditions for the Dong Nai Technology University to prepare the necessary documentation and procedures for its infrastructure project. He urged the university to work closely with the Department of Planning and Investment for specific resolutions.

Dr. Phan Ngoc Son, Chairman of the University Council of Dong Nai Technology University, presented at the meeting.

According to the university's report, the Dong Nai Technology University currently offers 28 undergraduate programs, 4 master's programs, and 1 doctoral program, with a total of 8,000 students and trainees. The university has undergone two cycles of quality assessment for higher education institutions and has been recognized as meeting the Ministry of Education and Training's standards.

The university's development plan for the 2026-2030 period, with a vision to 2035, focuses on partnerships, expanding infrastructure, and increasing training capacity across diverse disciplines. The goal is to provide skilled, high-quality technical labor to serve key projects and meet the socio-economic development needs of Dong Nai and the Southeastern provinces.

To meet its development needs, the university proposed in 2022 to use a 20-hectare plot of land in Tan Hiep Commune, Long Thanh District, for a new training facility. However, this land is currently allocated for rubber production and would need to go through a land-use rights auction, as required by law. Additionally, the land overlaps with a site requested by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City for its campus in Dong Nai. Therefore, the university requested the Provincial People's Committee to introduce a suitable alternative location for its training facility.
