Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Meets with the Delegation from the Consulate General of Malaysia

(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On the afternoon of November 5th, Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Vo Tan Duc, along with leaders of various departments and agencies, welcomed and worked with the delegation from the Malaysian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, led by Mr. Firdauz Bin Othman, Consul General.

At the meeting 

During the meeting, the Chairman provided the delegation with updates on the province's socio-economic situation and foreign investment activities in Dong Nai. The province is one of the leading industrial hubs in the southern key economic region, with a consistently high and stable economic growth rate averaging 8% annually. Dong Nai has 39 industrial parks approved by the Prime Minister, of which 33 have been established, 31 are operational, and 2 are in the infrastructure preparation phase. The province has attracted investment from 46 countries and territories, totaling 1,679 projects with a registered capital of 34.99 billion USD.

Among these, Malaysian enterprises have invested in 22 projects with a total capital exceeding 230 million USD. Additionally, people-to-people diplomacy between Dong Nai and ASEAN nations has been increasingly strengthened and promoted. The Vietnam-ASEAN Friendship Association of Dong Nai Province, established in 2022, now has over 200 members and has organized various vibrant and diverse cultural exchange activities.

The Malaysian Consul General presents a souvenir to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee 

Mr. Firdauz Bin Othman, Consul General of Malaysia in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that Viet Nam is Malaysia's fourth-largest trading partner. Regarding Dong Nai province, Malaysia and Dong Nai have enjoyed a robust economic, investment, and trade relationship, with numerous notable activities in recent years. In the field of education, collaborative events were held between a Malaysian university and the Eastern University of Technology in 2023, followed by meetings with Lac Hong University in 2024, and a talk show on Malaysian education. Consul General Firdauz Bin Othman expressed his desire to further connect and promote cooperation between Malaysian universities, research centers, and universities in Dong Nai in the near future.

Vietnam and Malaysia share a diverse cultural history, which offers great potential for collaboration in cultural fields between the two sides. Additionally, in the Halal sector, there is an opportunity for Dong Nai and Malaysia to connect and promote cooperation in Halal tourism, Halal food production, and other related services.

Chairman Vo Tan Duc expressed his hope that, in his capacity as Consul General of Malaysia in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Firdauz Bin Othman would act as a bridge, introducing Malaysian partners to explore investment opportunities and further promoting trade, economic, educational, and cultural exchange activities with Dong Nai province in the coming years. ​​
