Dong Nai Farmers’ Association opens “Country Singing Contest”

July 2, Dong Nai Farmers’ Association held the final of contest 2005 entitled “Charming and Diligent Young Country Girls” and “Country Singing” at the meeting-hall in Dong Nai Province’s Square to mark the 75th anniversary of the Vietnamese Farmers’ Association (VFA) establishment (October 14)

The winners at “Charming and Diligent Young Country Girls Contest”.

The first-ever contest “Charming and Diligent Young Country Girls” being held in Dong Nai aimed to attract country women participation; this helped expanding their knowledge concerning the aspects of marriage, family and community life. All contestants paraded in the Vietnamese traditional dress (Ao Dai) and alternative costume. Then, they performed their talents for judging. At the final stage, each contestant was scored on her ability to answer questions by the judges. At the final round, Le Chi Na, 18 years old, who lived in Thong Nhat district, was the overall winner. The first runner-up was Vo Thi Thuy of Long Khanh town and the second runner –up was Vo Phuong Thao of Trang Bom district. The winners will then progress to the final round in the national level.

Besides, there were over 40 performances from Bien Hoa City, Long Khanh town and 9 districts that participated in “Country Singing Contest”. The contest consisted of various performances such as singing, dance, classical music, solo perform and so on. It was an interesting entertainment place which captured the attention of all contestants throughout the province. Solo singer of Thong Nhat district with the song themed “The coming of Spring” (Mua xuan ben cua so) won the first prize. Group-singers of Thong Nhat district with the song “Rice singing” (Hat ve cay lua hom nay) was awarded the first prize and the third prize of Quang Trung commune, Thong Nhat district with its dance performance themed “Crop dance” (Vu khuc ngay mua). At the contest, there were no first and second prizes for dance performance.
