(News Portal – Dong Nai) - Influenced by the world market, the textile and garment industries suffered a large reduction in orders and had to reduce production. But from the third quarter of 2023, many businesses have received new orders and production is gradually return to normal. This is a good sign for both businesses and workers.

Workers and businesses are excited due to the surge in new orders

A number of textile enterprises in Dong Nai province have received new orders again. Although profits are not high due to facing price reductions and product competition, businesses still try to maintain production and ensure stable jobs for workers.

Specifically, Son Ha Company Limited (Bien Hoa City) has a total of over 1 thousand employees. Mr. Nguyen Hoa Thanh, Chairman of the company's Trade Union, said that since 2022, the general difficult economic situation, lack of orders, and falling prices have had a strong impact on the company. Specifically, for garment orders, prices decreased by 30 to 50% compared to previous years. Even if the orders are not in line with its strengths, the company still has to complete them to ensure jobs for workers. Currently, the company has received enough orders until March 2024 but despite the low price, the business has to do so in order to maintain works for employees.

Meanwhile, Wacoal Vietnam Co., Ltd. is also able maintain production and jobs for workers. According to the business, in recent times, although orders have decreased, it has not affected workers' income and lives. Currently, the business and employees still have orders to complete even though they don't work overtime like before. In addition, the benefits and policies are still fully implemented for workers.

Many other businesses, despite challenges, do not reduce their workforce. With the motto that only by having employees, the company can survive. Businesses both worry about retaining employees and managing to find long-term business partners. Enterprises said they hope to retain their employees every month and manage to export goods even though profits are not as high and orders are not as abundant as before.

According to Dong Nai Province Confederation of Labor, currently across the province, there are 170 enterprises having challenges in production activities, including multiple enterprises in the textile industry. Despite businesses having abundant orders, these are not traditional orders but are items related to the garment industry. Meanwhile, customers are becoming increasingly demanding and prices are falling, making businesses unprofitable.
