The summing up conference

In 2008, although the economy experienced complicated conditions and price of farming produce decreased, the agricultural and rural economy maintained growth. The production value of agriculture – forestry – fishery reached more than VND7083bil, gaining 101.11 percent of the plan, up 5.98 percent against 2007. Also, DARD in coordination with localities successfully implemented a number of programs and projects for agricultural and rural development such as establishment of 8 cooperatives, over 800 highly productive clubs and so on

In addition to what the department has gained, the local agricultural sector has some shortcomings such as unequal application of technical advance to agricultural production, slow transformation of plant and domestic animal structure, limited application of new farming techniques and small investment by farmers, which have restrained the agricultural potential.
