In 2023, the province's one product per commune (OCOP) program aims to have at least 37 more OCOP products with 3 stars or more. Not only setting quotas on quantity, the important goal of the agricultural industry is to support market expansion and brand recognition for products.

Towards export

Over the past time, the Agriculture sector has always accompanied and supported OCOP subjects in renovating form, quality and scale from production development to opening consumption markets.

Seeing the effectiveness of the OCOP program, many enterprises investing in processing and exporting agricultural products also actively participated in OCOP for products; building brands for agricultural products on the domestic market, especially expanding export channels to fastidious markets.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, representative of Cuong Hoa fruit and vegetable processing facility in Quang Trung commune (Thong Nhat district), said that starting from a small household, the facility gradually expanded its production scale. In 2020, the facility's flexible dried banana product is recognized as a provincial 3-star OCOP product, the product is better recognized by the market. The facility is focusing on expanding the factory, investing in an electric fryer system and many industrial machines to reduce environmental pollution and better improve working conditions for workers as well as increase processing productivity. The establishment is also very careful in investing in building an image and brand so that its products can be exported well to fastidious markets.

Trong Duc Cocoa Company Limited (Dinh Quan district) is the first unit of the province with the first 5-star OCOP potential product. Over the years, this enterprise has invested millions of dollars to expand its processing plant, focusing on deep processing products such as chocolate, cocoa liquor, cocoa powder... According to Mr. Dang Tuong Khanh, Director of Trong Duc Cocoa Co., Ltd., the company cooperates with Japanese enterprises to jointly develop Vietnamese chocolate brands, not to do pure processing. drug. Products exported to the Japanese market are clearly marked "made in Vietnam". Trong Duc's development direction is to target the high-end and very high-end market, competing by quality and taste, not by cheap price.

Strengthening consumption connection

After nearly 4 years of implementing the OCOP program into practice, Dong Nai has 150 OCOP products that are typical products and strengths of localities. The program has formed many OCOP product value chains from production to processing and consumption.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, up to now, the province has 197 chain links with the participation of 101 businesses and 64 cooperatives. In particular, the agricultural sector cooperates with relevant departments and branches to organize many programs to support OCOP products to build a chain from production to consumption.

Mr. Tran Quang, Director of Xuan Tien Agricultural Service Trading Cooperative, Xuan Phu Commune (Xuan Loc District) said that the unit pioneered a large field project to grow rice and corn; link cooperative members to contribute capital to invest in modern machinery instead of human labor. Currently, the cooperative members are converting from common rice varieties to specialty rice varieties such as: ST24, ST25; to build a specialty rice production area according to organic standards. The cooperative also mobilized capital to invest in a rice drying system, rice milling machine, and rice processing machine to produce organic rice products to supply to the market. “The cooperative's rice products have obtained OCOP certification and have been facilitated by the province to participate in many trade promotion programs. Thanks to that, the cooperative's clean rice products are now supplied to many provinces and cities across the country, mainly focusing on the big market, Ho Chi Minh City," said Mr. Quang.

In particular, the program to connect and bring OCOP products into large supermarket systems is very important because it not only supports the expansion of distribution channels but also helps affirm the prestige of product quality. Ms. Bui Thu Binh, owner of Thu Binh sausage processing facility (Long Thanh) shared, thanks to the cooperation program between the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and MM Mega Market Co., Ltd., the facility's products are now being displayed. sold at 21 MM Mega Market centers nationwide. This is a great motivation for the facility to focus its investment resources on expanding its production scale, constantly improving to improve the quality of products and services, and making more quality products to supply to the market.
