Dinh Quan district’s Association of AO/Dioxin Victims hold mid-term conference (2008-2013 term)

On the morning of August 10, Dinh Quan district’s Association of AO/Dioxin Victims held a conference to review its activities in the period of 2008-2010 at the meeting hall of Dinh Quan district Political Cultivation Centre.

Granting certificates of merit to the organizations with great contribution to the activities of AO Victims’ Association

 

Over the past two years, the association has made great efforts and gained encouraging achievements. It has raised over VND750 million from 98 organizations and 29 individuals within and outside the district to take care of local AO victims. The association visited and handled gifts with a total cost of over VND1 billion to AO victims on Tet holiday and the Day for Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims in Vietnam on August 10. It also provided free medical check-ups and medicines to 547 turns of local AO victims with a total cost of VND29.7 million. The association joined hands with Anco to provide 40 pigs to 10 families with particularly difficult situations. Additionally, Dinh Quan district’s Association of AO/Dioxin Victims built 12 compassion houses worth a total cost of VND225 million and has offered regular allowances to 15 AO victims.      

Apart from focusing on health care and economic condition, the association often sends its employees to Ha Noi to attend training courses on health care and rehabilitation for AO victims.

As for the period of 2011-2013, the association plans to implement such major tasks as: establishing 12 branches at grassroots level, admitting 100 new members, enhancing the quality of its activities and helping AO victims to overcome difficulties in life.

    At the conference, Truong Thi Nguyet - Chairwoman of Dinh Quan district’s Association of AO/Dioxin Victims – called for the support from kind-hearted organizations and individuals. In particular, the conference’s participants donated VND10 million. Then 3 organizations and 6 individuals who have made their great contribution to the activities for AO victims were granted the certificates of merit conferred by the association. On this occasion, the association also awarded certificates of merit to 3 enterprises for their effort to help AO victims.
