Dong Nai telecommunications

In his work session, Vice chairman heard businesses report on the operations in the area of telecommunications in 2008 and on the plans in 2009. Most businesses said that they have been greatly influenced by economic difficulties and the telecoms industry is no exception. However, thanks to their special features, telecoms businesses keep maintaining a high growth rate, meeting the social demands for information and handing an amount of billions over to the State budget. Particularly, the telecoms revenue in 2008 reached VND1,785 billion. There have been 420,000 new cellular and fixed telephone subscribers. Telephone density is 66.68 subscribers per 100 population and internet density is 14.21 subscribers per 100 population. Currently, the province has 571 mobile stations including 141 ones that were built in 2008. Increasingly, telecoms businesses are growing in both quantity and quality. So far, there have been six telecoms businesses in the province such as Vinaphone, Mobifone, Viettel Mobile, SPT, EVN and HT Mobile. This shows a fierce competition between businesses for the telecoms market share. They said this is the reason why there has been a promotional campaign race, which creates a huge number of the virtual subscribers of the total telephone and internet subscribers.

Vice chairman – Tran Van Vinh – highly appreciated the efforts telecoms businesses have made to maintain the growth rate and make a significant contribution to the province’s socio-economic growth targets. Vice chairman made a speech, offered guidance and reminded in his work session that telecoms businesses should join hands in investing in facilities to avoid waste which spoils urban aesthetic and simultaneously draw up competitive strategies aimed at service quality instead of launching massive and ineffective promotion campaigns in recent times.
