During the meeting, Secretary Nguyen Hong Linh provided an overview of Dong Nai's socio-economic development to the Consul General. Specifically, Dong Nai is one of the leading provinces in Viet Nam in terms of industrial development. It was the first province in the country to establish an industrial zone back in 1963. Currently, the province has planned 39 industrial zones, of which 33 have been established, covering a total area of over 10,514 hectares. These zones have attracted investments from 46 countries and territories, with a total of 1,667 projects, amounting to a registered capital of USD 34.84 billion. According to the provincial planning approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 586/QD-TTg on July 3, 2024, Dong Nai aims to complete 48 industrial zones by 2030.
Dong Nai boasts a large land area and a sizable population, with diverse ecosystems, including Tri An Lake, the Dong Nai River, and Nam Cat Tien National Park. The province holds significant potential for tourism and agricultural development. Furthermore, the central government has invested in building Long Thanh International Airport, the largest international airport in Vietnam, along with developing infrastructure such as highways and ports, all of which are enhancing both domestic and international trade.
