Dong Nai performs quite well in food safety and hygiene

On January 26, the central interdisciplinary inspection team No. 5 led by Mr. Le Van Thiet, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) worked with the Provincial Steering Committee for Food Hygiene and Safety related to food safety issues during the Lunar New Year and the spring festival season in 2021.

The field trip covers organizational issues and activities of the Provincial Steering Committee for Food Hygiene and Safety at all levels; direction for promulgation of plans and implementation of food safety and hygiene at the provincial level; and handling of violations by the pilot models and food chains over the last time.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Huu Tai, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2021, the whole province has established 4 interdisciplinary inspection teams led by the Department of Health, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Provincial Department of Market Surveillance to inspect food safety and hygiene at the food processing and trading establishments in the province. The delegations have checked 23 establishments, in which, 11 violating establishments have been handled for their violation.

In 2020, the health sector has implemented the supervision of maintaining food safety control models in 24 establishments with 35 collective kitchens, building 3 new food safety control models for food service establishments in the area of Nhon Trach District, Bien Hoa City.

Concerning the development of chains of product consumption and safe food supply, up to now, the whole province has 132 chains for linking production and consumption of agricultural products engaging 67 enterprises, processing and preliminary processing establishments, 52 cooperatives and 18 cooperative groups.

After working with the Provincial Steering Committee for Food Hygiene and Safety, the central interdisciplinary inspection team conducts a physical inspection at a sauce manufacturing company located in Amata Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City and a company specialized in manufacturing pork products in Trung Hoa Commune, Trang Bom District. The results show that all units have well complied with the regulations on food safety and hygiene.
