Nhon Trach new urban is converging with great potential to enter the period of accelerated development

Lots of potential for development

Over the past 20 years, despite being considered to possess many advantages, Nhon Trach new urban area has not been able to develop as expected. One of the factors that is considered a "bottleneck" that makes Nhon Trach new urban area unable to become a dynamic and modern urban development is the connected transport infrastructure system.

With its location in the center of the Southern Key Economic Zone, adjacent to the large urban area of Ho Chi Minh City, however, because the connected transport system has not been synchronously invested, the development advantages of Nhon Trach are still in the form of potential.. However, with a series of regional transport projects that have been and are being implemented, in the coming years, the development "bottleneck" of Nhon Trach new urban will be removed.

Assessing the development ability of Nhon Trach new urban in the coming time, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung said that the development premise such as the infrastructure system, traffic connection of Nhon Trach already exists. "The Ring Road 3-HCMC, the inter-port road, the provincial road 25B, 25C... all already exist," said Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung. In addition to the connected transport infrastructure system, the development momentum for Nhon Trach new urban area in the near future will be increased with new "elements" gradually "forming" such as Long Thanh Airport and Phuoc An Port. .

According to the plan, in 2025, Phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport will be completed and put into operation. Located adjacent to Long Thanh Airport, Nhon Trach new urban area will be one of the major beneficiaries from the spread of the development momentum of this "super" airport.

Meanwhile, Phuoc An Port as expected by the investor will also be officially put into operation in 2024. This is expected to be a "magnet" to attract goods from localities in the Southeast region to serve import and export needs.

 Synchronize traffic infrastructure

Currently, the Government has approved the policy of adjusting the general planning of Nhon Trach new urban area to 2045. This is considered a great opportunity for Nhon Trach new urban area to overcome previous mistakes in planning to respond to the new development situation. With a series of new development promoting factors gradually appearing, the adjustment of the general plan will be a step to shape to realize the development potentials and advantages of Nhon Trach new urban area in the coming period. In particular, the planning of the transport infrastructure system including internal and external traffic is a very important factor.

Tran The Vinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said that in the period 2016-2020, the development of Nhon Trach new urban area has not been as expected due to the existence of a number of factors that are not conducive to the development process. However, in the coming period, with the addition of Long Thanh Airport, the development process of Nhon Trach new urban area will have very favorable new impacts. "Nhon Trach new urban area is located between Long Thanh Airport and Ho Chi Minh City, so it is necessary to carefully evaluate the impact on the urban development process" - Mr. Tran The Vinh stated.

According to Mr. Tran The Vinh, along with Long Thanh Airport, Nhon Trach will also have Phuoc An Port, which will be the factors that attract a large amount of goods from localities in the region to Nhon Trach. Therefore, the planning of the transport system in the area should be calculated to meet the demand. In particular, special attention must be paid to the problem of synchronization in traffic connections.

With the same opinion, Mr. Vu Xuan Du, Head of Financial Planning Department, Department of Transport, said that in the project to adjust the general planning of Nhon Trach new urban area to 2045, it is necessary to recalculate the role of a number of main traffic routes to suit the new situation. “Provincial road 25C was previously identified as the main axis of Nhon Trach new urban area. However, coming here, this route will be one of the connecting axes of Long Thanh Airport. Therefore, the role of this route is no longer the main urban axis, but the regional connection route," said Mr. Vu Xuan Du.

In addition, for the connected transport system of Nhon Trach new urban area, Mr. Vu Xuan Du also said that it is necessary to study some additional options for external traffic routes such as the northern area of the new urban area. Nhon Trach often connects provincial roads 25A, 25B, 25C with other important traffic axes such as National Road 51, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau highway. “The northern area of Nhon Trach new urban area is adjacent to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway, so there is a division. Therefore, it is necessary to study the plan to connect district road 2 to Nhon Trach through Long Thanh Bridge on the highway. From there, connect the chain of urban centers in Long Hung commune with Nhon Trach new urban area. Along with that, there should be more locations connecting provincial roads in the area with the Ben Luc - Long Thanh highway "- Mr. Vu Xuan Du added.

Meanwhile, Mr. Cao Tien Sy, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that in the past, the driving force behind Nhon Trach new urban area was industrial zones. However, in the coming time, the new driving force will be urban development and services, including logistics and tourism services. Therefore, the adjusted planning needs to consider adding more railway lines and transshipment areas to reduce transportation costs and meet the demand for large-scale freight transportation.
