In 2008, supporting the campaign schemed ‘women with mutual assistance in domestic economic development’, the women’s associations across the province have mobilized VND6.4 billion (US$363,905), which are then borrowed by 6,300 poor women with zero-interest rate. In addition, by means of the mobilized capital, the associations have helped 3,690 poor households and more than 3,000 woman-led families to eliminate poverty; and 7,068 firm jobs in local companies and factories have been introduced to the members.
Moreover, the associations financially contribute to building up 56 houses of compassion and repairing 13 others with total cost worth up to some VND680 million (US$38,664); mobilize to construct other 5 compassionate homes with a sum of VND100 million (US$5,686), for those who face difficulties finding accommodations. They also express deep interest in gratitude activities such as: natural disaster victim relief donation, organizing compassionate classes, granting gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Moms, martyrs’ parents and State preferential police families, paying visit and giving presents to poor workers celebrating their Tet festival in Dong Nai.
