A ceremony took place in the evening of March 29 at March 26 Vocational Training School (in Ho Nai ward, Bien Hoa city) to respond to 2014 Earth Hour. The celebration was attended by more than 2,000 youth members in the province.
Earlier, approximately 100 youth members cycled from the provincial Conference & Event Center, through main roads in the city, to March 26 Vocation Training School. In the same morning, Long Khanh Power Company and People’s Committee conducted a launching ceremony to respond 2014 Earth Hour. After the ceremony came to an end, 100 employees of Power Company and youth members of schools went on a march with radio broadcasting cars, banderols, and propaganda banners in main roads of the district.
To play their part, the commune reduced public lighting system in over 17 roads and 2 areas including Chien Thang Statue Park, Flower garden in an hour between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm at night of March 29.
A ceremony was jointly held by People’s Committee and Power Company of Long Thanh district in the morning of March 29 at April 28 Park to respond to 2014 Earth Hour. And it was attended by 500 cadres and pupils. Then, youth members rode bicycles through the main roads in the district to call upon people joining efforts to save electricity in order to protect the exhausting energy as well as the environment under climate change threats. In the first three months of 2014, 6 million kWh of electricity was saved, and 9,700 kWh of electricity was saved only at Earth Hour on March 29.
