The project worth US$500,000 will be carried out within 2 years. The main purpose of this project is to find out effective and feasible methods solving the growing problems of water pollution in the Tri An reservoir and the lower Dong Nai River. Accordingly, the pollution contributions to the deteriorating water quality in Tri An reservoir and lower Dong Nai river mainly come from fish-breeding, agriculture and waste from households and industrial production.

Dong Nai river has a length of 586.4km. Dong Nai river basin has 266 rivers and streams with a length of over 10km each. Some big branches of the Dong Nai River are Da Dung River, Dak Dang River, La Nga River, Be River, Sai Gon River and Vam Co River.
