The theme of the Congress is “Dong Nai women of solidarity, creativity, equality and development”. The reports at the Congress show that for the past five year, all levels of provincial women have been making significant contributions to the economic growth, progressive achievements in socio-culture, ensuring a stable defense and security of the province. Dong Nai intellectual staff has increased in terms of both quantity and quality with more than 15,000 graduates and post-graduates and 35% of 200 PhD and M.A holders are women. Moreover, Dong Nai province’s female officers, civil servants and officials account for 65% of the total number, incessantly studying to increase their levels and knowledge in order to promote the fine nature of Vietnamese women. In particular, the proportion of women taking part in the political system is increasing. For every past year, the role of the Union of all levels has been more and more reinforced, attracting plenty of women to join in movements such as Women study positively, work creatively and build a happy family; Women supported in reducing poverty and developing considerably, better themselves to make their fortunes properly; and Build a family of “prosperity, equality, progress and happiness” and so on. Among those, supporting women in poverty reduction, economic development and proper fortune-making is the most noticeable. Every year, the Union co-coordinately supports an amount of nearly VND100 billion loan to over 80,000 turns of women, 80% of whom succeed in doing business with such a loan and increase their lives. The rate of poor households in the whole province has decreased from 12.5% in 2000 to 0.89% at the end of 2005.

The Congress elected the Seventh Executive Committee of the Province’s Women’s Union (the term of 2006-2011) including 37 members among whom Ms Dao Nguyen was re-elected the President of the Seventh Provincial Women’s Union together with Ms Le Ngoc Suong, Ms Le Thi Huong, and Ms Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa as the three Vice-Presidents of the Union. The Delegation to attend the Tenth National Congress of Women’s Union consists of 17 officially elected members and 2 alternates. Right after the presenting ceremony, the Seventh Executive Committee of the Province’s Women’s Union produced the action plan of the next term, voted on some basic targets and adopted the Congress’s Resolution.
Some basic targets of the Seventh Term: - Every year, 100% of the Union’s members register in the emulation movement of “Women study positively, work creatively and build a happy family”, and 60% of the registering members attain 3 criteria in the emulation movement. - 80% of the members and women can take part in propagandic and educational activities of the Union of all levels. - 70% of young mothers are instructed on the knowledge and skills of family life, children bringing up, which helps to reduce the rate of malnutrition in children under the age of five down to 15% and the rate of natural population growth down to 1.15%. - 80% of the poor households with women householders are supported by the Union to reduce poverty, helping to decrease the rate of poor households in the whole province to below 4% (pursuant to the new standard) in 2010. - Increase the operational quality of the Union levels, striving to hold fast to the good and excellent rates of 90% and over. The percentage of members gathering reaches 65% and above; 80% of the members participate in the activities regularly; 100% of the Union levels set up and promote the active role of the cadre whose establishment makes up 40%; 80% of the members pay the membership fees (not to mention the members exempted from the membership fees). - Strive to have 100% of the key members of the Union of all levels attaining the criteria on the titles of officers and civil servants. |
