Dong Nai province focuses on developing key service sectors

On the morning of July 29, Mr. Dinh Quoc Thai, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Dong Nai’s service development chaired the pre-summation conference about the service development program in the first half of 2009 and set tasks for the second half.

The pre-summation conference about the service development program in the first half of 2009

    GDP of the service industry in the first half of 2009 is expected to hit VND3,600 billion, up 8.92% over the same period, accounting for 44.9% of the year plan. Particularly, the four industries that make up large proportion are: trade, up 8.7%; asset consultancy services, 6.56%; financial and credit services, 9.39% and transportation and depot services and communications, up 8.2%. However, due to the powerful impact of the global economic recession, the growth rate of the service industry in the first half of 2009 is much lower than that of the same period last year (in the first half of 2008 up 17% - in the first half of 2009 up 15.3%). A number of businesses have reduced their labor force and cut back on production since their export markets dwindled. For example, such businesses as Lac Cuong Shoes Co. Ltd, Global Plastic Packaging Co. Ltd, Dian Ya Porcelain Joint Venture and so on have had to shut down.

    The vital tasks in the second half of 2009 are to focus on key service sectors like boarding house service, to provide support for bus fare scheme to bus workers within the province, to enhance the socialization of health care and education and to implement the government’s demand stimulus package 497 effectively...
