The province is replicating the chains of industrial chicken production associated with processing to supply the export market.
Industrial chicken farming achieves good profit
From the beginning of the year until now, in the situation of farmers facing many difficulties due to high input costs, output products decreased deeply, but industrial chicken farmers still achieved good profits thanks to stable output.
The significant advantage of industrial chicken farming in Dong Nai is the application of high technology with large-scale goods along the chain from production to consumption. Specifically, farm livestock accounted for nearly 81.6% of the total poultry herd. Livestock farms are mainly owned by foreign development investment (FDI) companies or are outsourced to these companies. FDI companies account for 40.5% of the total chicken flock in the province. The industrial chicken breeding industry has formed production chains from breeding stock, feed, veterinary medicine, processing and consumption run by FDI enterprises.
Long Thanh Phat High-tech Agriculture Cooperative (Long Thanh District) is a member of the chain associated with Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd (Loteco Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City) raising, preliminarily processing and processing export chickens. export. Mr. Le Van Quyet, Director of Long Thanh Phat High-tech Agriculture Cooperative commented that, at present, small-scale livestock production is no longer suitable, but must promote the role of cooperatives and collective economy to gather models. small livestock. Entering the chain, farmers are assured because even during the Covid-19 epidemic, the price of chicken in the market dropped to only 5,000 VND/kg and still could not be sold, the farms in the breeding chain still sold at a profitable price. good is 28,000 VND/kg.
Mr. Le Quang Huy, owner of an industrial chicken farm in Long Duc Commune (Long Thanh District) shared: “Thanks to the linkage chain, farmers are under pressure both in terms of input costs, especially output as well as in the supply chain. is consumed at a profitable farmer price. Thanks to that, my family boldly invested in a modern industrial-scale farm to meet both output and quality for the export market."
Great opportunity for export
Many businesses and corporations in the livestock industry in the province invest in a chain of production, preliminary processing, processing and export of industrial chicken meat products to fastidious markets.
Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd. is a pioneer in exporting preliminarily processed and processed products from chicken to the fastidious Japanese market. According to a representative of Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd., from the fourth quarter of 2022, orders for processed chicken products from the export market increased by about 40% compared to the previous year thanks to the fact that, in addition to the old market of Japan, enterprises have more orders from Hong Kong market. Enterprises are looking for more partners to open new slaughtering, preliminary processing and processing lines.
Mr. Le Van Quyet added that, while the common ground of farmers suffered losses due to high input costs and difficult output, the industrial chicken meat consumption market was quite stable, with good prices due to the export market for this item is growing well. Many farms and livestock households only have a capital of a few hundred to 1 billion dong, small investment will be difficult to develop, but if they combine, the capital will increase to billions, tens of billions of billion dong and can invest in large scale farms. On a large scale, applying high technology in the direction of automation will reduce production costs, and new products will have a competitive advantage. “This is also the reason why I established a high-tech cooperative, gathering experienced livestock farmers to increase the small scale to a large scale of goods according to standards and export scale" – Mr. Quyet said. .
Recently, CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company in Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park (Bien Hoa City) has just exported the first batch of processed chicken meat to the Japanese market. This is the premise for this business to continue to promote the export of this product to other markets. Specifically, in phase 1, CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company will produce more than 1.6 thousand tons/month, equivalent to more than 4 million chickens/month. In 2025, this enterprise will open many new markets and double its capacity compared to today.
According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, up to now, the total poultry herd in the province has reached about 27.5 million heads; meat production reached about 183,000 tons and over 1.1 million eggs.
