(News Portal – Dong Nai) – On September 8th, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Green Growth Cooperation with Saigon Telecommunication & Technologies Corporation (Saigon Tel). Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh attended and witnessed the signing. The memorandum was signed by the Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the leaders of the
People's Committee of Dong Nai province and the leaders of Saigon Tel aims to
effectively implement the green growth goal of Dong Nai province, contributing
to the implementation of the low-carbon conversion goal, and reaching zero net
emissions by 2050. Based on the assessment of development potential, needs and
conditions between the parties, leaders of the People's Committee of Dong Nai
province and Saigon Tel agreed on development and implementation of Green
Growth cooperation in Dong Nai province. This is a strategic task to promote
the advantages of the parties, meeting the trend of development and integration,
implementing specifically and effectively the Government's policies on green
growth in Dong Nai province.

According to the plan, with Net Zero standards as a goal, the province
is trying to effectively implement green growth targets in every aspect, develop
planning projects, analyze roadmaps, and solutions based on Dong Nai province’s
actual situation, and the province’s socio-economic planning for the 2021 –
2030 period, with a vision to 2050. By exploiting the available strongpoints
and advantages, the cooperation between the province and Saigon Tel will
contribute to the establishment of an effective, and stable socio-economic
development.

In the memorandum of understanding, to address the impacts of climate change and seize the opportunities of the low-carbon transition, Vietnam has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced at the COP26 Climate Summit in 2021. In order to realize this goal, Vietnam has developed a National Strategy on Climate Change for the period up to 2050, which outlines the vision, targets and mitigation measures in key sectors, such as energy, industry, agriculture and waste.

Dong Nai holds an important geographical - economic - political
strategic position for our country in relationships and interactions with
countries in ASEAN, Asia and the world. As part of efforts to implement the
National Strategy and to achieve the 2050 emissions target, international
partners can provide expertise, engineering, green finance and share practical
knowledge and solutions through the Carbon Reduction Consulting Project. From
there, Dong Nai province can try applying various solutions to adapt and minimize
the impacts of climate change as well as set goals and develop effective
emission reduction policies.
