(News Portal – Dong Nai) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Binh Duong province have just organized a conference on trade promotion to expand export and import markets in the Southeast region with the theme "Taking advantage of opportunities - steadily moving forward".
Dong Nai businesses, cooperatives, and production facilities promote products and connect trade at the Trade Promotion conference to expand export and import markets in the Southeast region in December 2023.
According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang, the large scale of exports has contributed to maintaining the position of the Southeast region in leading export activities. Exported goods from the Southeast region are present in nearly 200 countries and territories. In particular, the focus is mainly on traditional markets, especially markets where Vietnam has free trade agreements such as the United States, China, EU, Japan, Korea, ASEAN countries...
Data from the General Department of Customs shows that local import-export turnover of goods in the Southeast region in the 10 months of 2023 reached 181.4 billion USD, accounting for 32.4% of export and import turnover of the country. Of which, Ho Chi Minh City maintained the highest total export and import turnover in the country at 80.4 billion USD, the two provinces of Binh Duong and Dong Nai both recorded high turnover of 43.1 billion USD and 30.9 billion USD, respectively.
Director of Tran Lam Food Co., Ltd. (Tay Ninh province) Tran Van Lam shared that with shrimp salt and vegetarian salt products, the company is currently expanding in the domestic market, with about 30 distributors in provinces and cities across the country, as well as supplying products to many supermarkets and convenience store chains. Currently, the company is putting efforts towards export markets, including potential markets such as the United States, Korea... Therefore, the company also wants to participate in many trade connection and expand export markets through conferences, trade fairs, export promotion...
Similarly, Ms. Lam Thien Loan, Market Development Director of Bau May Tourism Agriculture Trade Joint Stock Company (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) said that the company's main export products were organic pepper seeds. Currently, 70% of the company's market share is Japan, Singapore, United States, France... In the context of international market fluctuations, market consumption is slower than in previous years, connection activities, trade promotion, and market expansion play an important role to help businesses find more partners and customers...

Director of the Department of Trade Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) Vu Ba Phu said that in the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade would continue to innovate and implement a variety of trade promotion activities. In particular, for the Department of Trade Promotion, in 2024, the Department will continue to focus on trade promotion activities towards businesses in the Southeast region, organizing trade promotion programs in the Southeast region as well as national trade promotion programs and national brand programs with the participation of a large number of agencies, organizations and businesses in the Southeast region.
Sales Director of Dong Du Ky Food Manufacturing Import Export Trading Company Limited (Trang Bom District) Tran Quang Duong shared that the company's main products were soy sauce, fish sauce, and oyster sauce. Currently, the company's main market is the domestic market, especially the Southern region, mainly supplying mini supermarkets and businesses providing industrial meals. The company wants to participate in different market connection activities, find partners for imported raw materials, and expand into potential export markets.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang shared that, as a multi-sectoral economic management agency, performing state management functions on trade, industry, regulating goods circulation and import-export, The Ministry of Industry and Trade would continue to accompany and coordinate closely with authorities of localities in the Southeast region, supporting businesses in the region to develop import-export markets.
At the same time, the Ministry will promote the consumption of strong regional products in domestic and foreign markets, taking advantage of opportunities to promote the region's key products and brands, and contribute to promoting trade of the region to develop more dynamically, thereby making a vital contribution to the country's socio-economic development.
