The 3rd conference of People’s Council of southeastern provinces and cities held in Da Lat City.

In the course of one-and-a-half day meeting, delegates focused on the methods of raising the quality of People’s Council meetings and the quality of reports from departments under the council.

At the conference, delegates also listened to the reports made by delegates of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Long An and Tay Ninh province. The reports of Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Council were highly appreciated by the conference. Ho Chi Minh City is considered to be the locality with a lot of innovations in the People’s Council activities. The reports from Ho Chi Minh City’s delegation show that they always try for the best quality of every people’s committee’s meeting and as such priority is given to the benefits of people. They shared the experience of improving the capacity of individual people’s committee delegate, carefully assessing the projects presented in front of the council to decide whether they are scientific, practical and accordance with the law. In particular, the live broadcast of the council’s meeting turns them into a big forum for the masses to make contribution to and had their voices on national issues and policies. The fact is that despite efforts and improvements the quality of inquiry sessions at most provincial People’s Council does not meet the requirements of voters. To solve the problem People’s Council delegate must be knowledgeable about the law, must master the issues being questioned and above all wholeheartedly try to solve the problems raised by the voters. Suggestions have been made from the conference to National Assembly’s Standing Committee on increasing the ratio of professional council delegates and raising a number of council office’s staffs. 

Late of the same day, the delegates of Dongnai People’s Council reported on the experience in fostering professional skills for People’s Council delegates at commune level.
