On the evening of October 1, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee organized a regular meeting to evaluate the implementation of tasks on socio-economy, security and national defense over the province in the first 9 months of the year, setting goals and working out key solutions needed to carry out in the 4th quarter.

According to reports, in the first 9 months of 2007, GDP is estimated to reach VND 18,175 billion, achieving 72.1 percent of the plan and increasing 15 percent compared to the same period. This is the year reaching the highest growth rate within the first 9 months in recent years. Specifically, the industry-construction increased by 16.9%, the service rose over 16%, agriculture-forestry-aquaculture are 5 percent higher than the same period last year. However, through analysis and evaluation of the obtained results, there were some shortcomings in budget collection and this leads to a rather difficult task for the fourth quarter. To date, the budget collection has just reached 61 percent compared to budget estimates and in order to fulfill assigned tasks, the provincial leaders asked the Finance Branch to put more focus on the budget collection for the rest of the year, especially collection from land funds and foreign-invested enterprises.

Leaders of the Provincial People's Committee also noted the progress in conducting capital construction projects but the disbursement progress is slow (only reaching nearly 34%) and simultaneously asked the relevant departments and sectors to speed up the projects’ progress and payment to have them early put into operation. Another issue of which the leaders warned the branches to take account is that the administration reform is still slow, especially the issuance of land-use right certificates and house-own right ones. Other issues on epidemic diseases, improvement of cultivated crops’ quality, prevention and fighting against floods, sewage treatment and reduction in traffic accidents are also warned about by the leaders.
